You’ll Never Guess The Origin Of Some Of The Most Common Used Inventions
Germany – Tape
In Hamburg 1896, Oscar Troplowitz developed the first-ever technical tape. He meant for it to be a medical adhesive kind, but it didn’t pull through as it was too strong for the skin and only pulled it off. The tape still got released into the market for sealing bicycle tires instead and later on became a general-purpose adhesive solution.
That was back in 1936, after 40 years, and Tesa, the abbreviation of Elsa Tesmer, his secretary, became known for all tape varieties in Germany. Oscar is also known as a philanthropist, brand pioneer, Nivea’s Inventor, and reforming employment by introducing social benefits. What a man!
