Wonders of the Modern World: Jaw-Dropping Infrastructures That Leave You in Awe
The Normandy Bridge
The Normandy Bridge, also known as the Pont de Normandie, is located in the Normandy region of France. It spans 7,032 feet over the Seine River, offering an impressive view of its path, and is a popular tourist destination. Also famous for being the longest flyover in France and Paris, it features a walkway perpendicular to the sloping overpass.
Its architect, Michel Virlogeux, designed the striking structure with a unique appearance. The bridge comprises four lanes for vehicles and two for pedestrians, with concrete pylons shaped like inverted Ys. It once held the record for the longest cable-stayed bridge but lost it in 2004 to the Rio-Antirrio.
