The Quiet Life of Some of the Greatest NFL Players
Lemar Parrish, 75, Cincinnati Bengals
“Mr. Versatility” would perhaps fit Lemar Parrish, who was a defensive back, cornerback, and kick returner for the Cincinnati Bengals for seven years. During that time, he earned eight Pro Bowl selections before moving to the Washington Redskins, where he was a return specialist for three years and dropped his kick-runner role.
In 1982, Parrish retired while playing for the Buffalo Bills, where he didn’t have the same significant impact as his previous two teams. He then returned to his alma mater, Lincoln University of Missouri, to study physical education with a minor in psychology before becoming the head football coach of the Blue Tigers.
