The Quiet Life of Some of the Greatest NFL Players

Ron Yary, 76, Minnesota Vikings

Ron Yary is one of the most successful NFL players in history, with six First-team All-American inclusions, seven Pro Bowls, and the NFL’s 1970 All-Decade Team selection. The 1987 College Football Hall of Fame inductee is also a 2001 Pro Football Hall of Famer. His success came primarily with the Minnesota Vikings as an offensive tackle.

Yary’s seven consecutive Pro Bowl appearances helped propel the Vikings to the 1969 NFL Championship, a feat he couldn’t achieve in his one-year stint with the Los Angeles Rams. In 2001, Yary retired from his co-owned sports photography business after his brother, Wayne, bought him out.
