Still, out of thousands of crustacean species in the world, it remains the largest. In fact, Crabzilla, the largest ever caught, spanned over 12 feet across.
The enormous arthropods live at the lowest depths of the ocean. And their unique orange and white-speckled bodies match the rocks on the ocean floor, keeping them out of sight of larger prey. They also consume dead animal and plant matter but also rely on live fish or other crustaceans for nutrients.
