The Blue Dragon and 39 Other Bizarre Creatures That Will Blow Your Mind

Greater Sage-Grouse

Unearthly is a good word to describe the Greater Sage-Grouse. The chicken-like bird is native to North America, making it the largest specie of grouse in the region. And as its name suggests, it was first discovered in the sagebrush plains in the lower areas of the Columbia basin.

The bird enjoys a diet of insects, weeds, and grass. And females usually sport duller coloring than males, allowing them to blend in with their surroundings better. Though on the verge of extinction, the fowl can still be found in certain parts of Canada and the Western United States, with Wyoming holding 38% of its global population.
