The Blue Dragon and 39 Other Bizarre Creatures That Will Blow Your Mind
Eastern Long-Necked Turtle
The Eastern long-necked turtle has the best of both worlds. Its strong shell offers protection from the environment, and its incredibly long neck allows it to mimic the hunting habits of a snake. This turtle is a solitary creature. So it often travels solo across long distances in search of suitable habitat.
Most of its activity is also dictated by external temperature. So it is usually active from mid-morning to mid-afternoon before seeking shelter from the sun at high noon. However, it’s best to be careful not to get too close to it in the wild, as it emits a smelly protective substance when frightened.
