The Blue Dragon and 39 Other Bizarre Creatures That Will Blow Your Mind
Remora
Remora, also known as shark sucker or suckerfish, is a kind of ray-finned fish. It’s pelagic, so rather than spending time at the bottom of the ocean or close to the shore, it prefers to inhabit the water column.
The remora has a long, flattened head and a short body covered in smooth scales, and its mouth is full of numerous small pointy teeth curved inward. It also lacks a swimming bladder, so it moves about by attaching itself to the body of other fish or aquatic creatures. So when it latches to a shark, it gains a convenient food source and protection from other predators.
