Andy Made Leigh Taylor-Young’s Thigh His Canvas

As part of New York City’s art clique, Andy Warhol and his crew were staples at Studio 54. Surrounded by his people, he certainly felt right at home at the nightclub. He even made it an impromptu art studio when he made actress Leigh Taylor-Young’s thigh his canvas.

Getty dates the image to 1978 but some sources say that the late Campbell’s Soup I painter did the drawing in the late ‘60s. Taylor-Young starred in a film called I Love You Alice B. Toklas, where she appeared with a similar design. Whenever the incident really happened, we bet the sketch would’ve gotten a lot of money if preserved and auctioned today.
