Don’t Do Too Much Too Soon
We’ve all done it, tried to impress a friend or someone else at the club, and then went too hard, too soon. In the GIF, you see what can happen if you do this on a treadmill. But there is another reason to take it easy at the start.
If you’re not fit, lifting too much can lead to injury. But another reason is DOMS. Delayed-onset muscle soreness happens to all levels of athletes but is most prevalent in beginners, whose fresh muscles need to adjust to the strain. Going too hard can make DOMS debilitating, to a point where you can’t use your arms or legs.
