A Nightmare For Kids
The 1939 blockbuster “The Wizard of Oz” was based on L. Frank Baum’s children’s book, published in 1900. The story reflects on the debate over the merits of the Gold Standard versus Silver. And while the story does have a valuable lesson for children at the time, this image will probably scare the little ones today.
This is Jack Haley, who played Tin Man in the movie and was known for his comedic and dancing skills. Although this turned out to be one of his memorable roles, he was also notable in the movies “Poor Little Rich Girl,” “Moon Over Miami,” and “Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.”
