Las Vegas has earned a reputation for bringing top-notch entertainment facilities like casinos and shops. One would immediately imagine the blinding marquees, rowdy bars, and never-ending slot machines. As such, it might be hard to accept that this image was once what we now know as Nevada’s biggest city.

Known as Sin City, Las Vegas reportedly had 8K residents in the ’40s, and as we can observe from this picture, there really wasn’t much structure, including the dazzling lights, at the time. Although there were already casinos, many of them had discriminatory practices.
