Matthew McConaughey’s good looks helped him become a sought-after leading man in Hollywood. He had to downplay this asset, though, when he took on the role of Ron Woodroof, a real-life AIDS patient, in 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club. The transformation saw him go down to a frail 135 pounds from his usual 188 pounds.
In the end, it was all worth it, as he won his first Oscar trophy for best actor thanks to his performance in the biographical drama. While he’s yet to follow it up with a second, McConaughey has continuously been at work since and is starring in Sing 2 in 2021.
