Elle Fanning is one of the unfortunate actresses whose makeunder didn’t go very well with audiences. Her portrayal of a transgender boy in 2015’s 3 Generations was widely criticized. Some focused on Fanning being cisgender and the horrible hair she was made to wear in the film. Some were kinder and blamed the film’s tentative treatment of the subject.
It’s safe to say that Fanning has since recovered from that small bump in her career. She reprised her role as Aurora for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil with Angelina Jolie in 2019. The 22-year-old actress also has a lead role in Hulu’s The Great.
