John Travolta As Edna Turnblad
John Travolta is no stranger to dancing and singing in his movies. He’s done it in Saturday Night Fever and Grease in the ‘70s. Doing those same things as a plus-size woman wearing heels is a challenge he took on, though, when he played Edna Turnblad on the 2007 movie musical Hairspray.
Travolta was happy to do it and even said it was for all the women who may feel conscious about having extra curves on their bodies. Fortunately, he didn’t have to gain the extra pounds for the role thanks to a 30-pound fat suit he wore while filming.
