A Photographer Stepped Into a Neglected Home to Show Us a Unique Piece of American History
The Outbuildings
Marion Carll’s passion for education met no limits. In her will, she specified she wanted the farmhouse’s outbuildings to be used as a historical museum. Her wish was half-granted: the outbuildings are still there, but it’s doubtful that they’ve ever been used for official educational purposes.
Sansivero photographed the area, exploring many of the outbuildings of the nine-acre property. This large barn is arguably less interesting than the colorful rooms in the main house, but it tells the fascinating story of how farm work was processed over 100 years ago. Their historic value is immense.
