A Photographer Stepped Into a Neglected Home to Show Us a Unique Piece of American History

Today or 100 years ago, morning routines are a part of what makes us human. Marion Carll probably washed her face every morning in front of this mirror, using water from that beautiful porcelain bowl. You can also spot some old toiletry products and a farm hat.

This beautifully framed picture is yet another piece of history that survived pretty much intact after so many years. It’s like stepping directly into the past and glimpsing at what life was like for our ancestors. In the 17th to 19th centuries, toiletries or toilet service were traditionally gifted upon the birth of a child, while table plates were a gift upon marriage.
