A Photographer Stepped Into a Neglected Home to Show Us a Unique Piece of American History
A Very Studious Woman
It’s fair to say you can tell a lot about someone by looking at his/her house. In Marion Carll’s case, it’s pretty clear she was a very studious woman. There are books in almost every room, and this writing bureau is yet another spot where Carll used to spend hours writing letters and working on her classes.
Browsing through these old letters would’ve been fascinating. We love how Carll decided to use an old box of chocolate to archive her correspondence. Before the Internet and the telephone, writing letters was one of the best-available long-distance methods of communication.
