A Photographer Stepped Into a Neglected Home to Show Us a Unique Piece of American History

Decay is Dangerous

As a man used to photograph desolate and remote locations, Bryan Sansivero is aware of how dangerous his job can be. The Marion Carll Farmhouse was in relatively good condition, but venturing through its old rooms was still very risky. At one point, the old staircase that connected the main floor to the top floor collapsed. Moments before, Sansivero was thinking of going back up to do some shots!

This dilapidated wall is a clear example of how decay was present in every room of the farmhouse. Time seemed to hold still at the farmhouse, but it was still dangerous to explore the decrepit building.
