A Photographer Stepped Into a Neglected Home to Show Us a Unique Piece of American History

Smells Like 1800s Spirit

Our most attentive readers have probably realized by now that Marion Carll’s home looks nothing like a ’60s home. That’s because, while Carll passed away in 1968, she still lived pretty much like a late 1800s woman. She was old-fashioned in her style and routine, and you can tell she belonged to a different century just by taking a look at her wardrobe.

Notice that quirky umbrella or parasol. Have you ever seen one before outside of a period film? Carll’s love for the ways of the past is part of what makes her house such a fascinating piece of historical evidence.
