When it comes to the invention of the ice cream cone, there are many stories involved. Different countries claim that the cone-shaped pastry originated from them. Many are taking credit for the idea of a waffle cone, but sources claim that it was Alex Manoogian who thought of it first.
However, the Armenian-American industrial engineer gets more recognized for inventing the first one-handed faucet we use today. Determined to seek a better life, Manoogian arrived in the United States during the 1920s. He worked hard to build his own company, the Masco Corporation, amid the Great Depression. Among his many contributions, the waffle cone firmly remains Alex’s crowning glory!
