You’ll Never Guess The Origin Of Some Of The Most Common Used Inventions

Croatia – Speedometer

The next time you go pumping your fast car to maximum speed and enjoying the thrill, remember to thank Croatian Josip Belušić. The engineer invented the electric speedometer in 1888 and initially named it a velocimeter. Josip, super proud about his achievement, presented it at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris.

His speedometer worked on electric current and measured the speed of the vehicle along with the distance it had travelled. Modern speedometers are fitted with field sensors and magnets to record the speed of the vehicle. Now you know that whenever your pointer is rotating as you accelerate or slow down, there is a magnet and a small aluminum cup at work behind the scenes.
