You’ll Never Guess The Origin Of Some Of The Most Common Used Inventions

Pakistan – Buttons

When busy buttoning your shirt in the morning before heading out to work, have you ever paused and asked yourself where these simple yet highly significant items originated? The oldest button has its roots in Mohenjo-Daro in the Indus Valley, located in modern-day Pakistan.

In earlier days, buttons got used mainly as seals or ornaments rather than fasteners. The earliest surviving examples are seashells, with some even carved into geometric shapes with delicate holes pierced into them. These made sewing them onto clothing with thread possible. Nowadays, button-making industries mainly use metals, plastic, seashell, and wood for crafting these innovative trimmings.
