Wonders of the Modern World: Jaw-Dropping Infrastructures That Leave You in Awe

The Confederation Bridge

The decision to construct an eight-mile bridge jointly by New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island was a significant one, as people used to travel by boat year-round. The idea started to gain popularity in the ’80s but didn’t begin until the ’90s, and about 5,000 people contributed to its accomplishment. The bridge was finally completed in 1997 and became available to the general public.

Known as the Confederation Bridge, the structure connects Prince Edward Island to the Canadian mainland. It is widely considered one of Canada’s most notable infrastructure accomplishments, as it symbolizes the integration of the country’s eastern and western regions.
