Wonders of the Modern World: Jaw-Dropping Infrastructures That Leave You in Awe

The Duge Bridge

The Beipanjiang Bridge is a remarkable engineering feat in China that spans the Beipan River. It is the highest overpass in the world, about 1,854 feet above the valley floor. Also called the Duge Bridge, it is less than a mile and connects the Guizhou and Yunnan provinces.

The construction of this structure was challenging, with the builders facing numerous obstacles, including complex topography, harsh weather conditions, and limited transportation access. But it was necessary as it significantly reduced the travel time from one province to another, which previously took almost five hours. Not only has it improved transportation, but it has also provided a new tourist attraction.
