Wonders of the Modern World: Jaw-Dropping Infrastructures That Leave You in Awe

Botanical Garden at Atocha Train Station

Atocha Train Station in Madrid, Spain, boasts a magnificent botanical garden that passengers can enjoy. The station—both the busiest and largest in Madrid—was the first to be built in the city and has undergone several renovations throughout its history. In 2004, the tragic train accident that claimed the lives of 191 people prompted further improvements to the station.

As a result, the plaza was redesigned, and it now includes a stunning garden alongside a stream that runs through it. The flowing water is meant to represent life and serves as a tribute to those who lost theirs in the tragedy.
