A Shinto priest or a minister typically performs traditional Japanese weddings if the couple is Christian. But Satoko Inoue and Tomohiro Shibata had a better idea in mind. “Why not let the robot i-Fairy marry us instead?” They thought. After all, they shared a love for androids with Inoue, even working for a company that produces them.
We remain skeptical, though. You see, Japan is already home to around 400,000 industrial robots. That’s not about to go well given the sci-fi books and movies we’ve read. Now that they can facilitate marriages, who’s to say they won’t start taking over soon?
