Unflattering And Intense Nature Photos Guaranteed To Give You The Chills
An Unusually Hairless Ape
Most species of apes are covered with hair from birth, so seeing one with its skin bare is not an everyday sight. Such apes have alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss, which is rare but not uncommon in the primate world. The malady affects humans and other primates, including gorillas, orangutans, and chimpanzees.
Apes and humans share a remarkable resemblance. And looking at the exposed muscle structure of the animal in this photo, the similarities seem more apparent. However, their muscularity and fitness levels are vastly different. Apes seem stronger than humans because each nerve in their body triggers more muscle fibers, making them use more than necessary.
