A Haunted Dark Road in Nothern Ireland
This photo depicts an eerie road with gnarled trees that resembles a scene from a horror movie. However, it is a real place called the Dark Hedges, beside the Bregagh Road in Northern Ireland’s County Antrim. The site is a magnificent avenue of mature beech trees, which James Stuart planted in the late 16th century to form an impressive entrance to their Georgian mansion.
Stuart meticulously placed 150 beech trees in two rows. Over time, their branches grew closer and formed a creepy tunnel stretching about 32 feet. The purpose of planting the trees was to make a lasting impression on visitors coming to the house.
