Unflattering And Intense Nature Photos Guaranteed To Give You The Chills
Keep Your Mouth Shut!
Photographer Jose Garcia captured this rare event where a green snake managed to escape becoming food for the great heron by wrapping itself around the bird’s beak. The duration of the combat was around 20 minutes, ending in a tie—more like a loss for the bird—as the heron eventually had to release its prey.
It’s uncertain how often snakes use this technique, but in this instance, the reptile’s well-prepared defense tactics proved successful. Herons typically use their beaks to pluck snakes out of the water and eat their heads first. But the outcome of this encounter was a deviation from typical animal confrontations, where a clear winner emerges.
