Catastrophic Landslide in Taiwan

In 2010, rescue efforts were intense in northern Taiwan as authorities searched for individuals in three vehicles buried by a massive landslide caused by days of rainfall. A firefighter on the scene, Tang Cheng-yu, reported that a portion of a three-lane highway was covered in rubble, roughly the size of two soccer stadiums, as the hillside collapsed.

Despite the efforts of hundreds of workers utilizing bulldozers around the clock, the cars could not be located. Four people were believed to be in the vehicles at the time of the landslide, and it was a motorist who reported the incident after narrowly escaping with a sharp turn.
