Joe Schmidt was an exceptional football player during his career in the NFL, where he played as a linebacker for the Detroit Lions and was selected to the Pro Bowl for 10 consecutive years. During that time, he was also a first-team All-Pro selection every year and won two NFL championships.
Schmidt’s impressive performance led him to become the Lions’ manager from 1967 to 1972. He had a brief acting stint after retiring, appearing in the 1968 movie “Paper Lion.” Nowadays, he runs an automobile manufacturer’s representative enterprise in Detroit. His legacy in the NFL is undeniable, and his career remains an inspiration for many athletes.
