The Blue Dragon and 39 Other Bizarre Creatures That Will Blow Your Mind
Sri Lanka Frogmouth
The Sri Lanka frogmouth is a small nocturnal bird that makes its home in the Western Ghats of South India and Sri Lanka. Its habitat is the forest, and its plumage is quite similar to the color of dead leaves, making it a master of disguise.
Though quiet by nature, the rousing call of the frogmouth can usually be heard at dawn and dusk. Another unique feature of this bird is that it only lays one egg at a time, and a white one at that. It’s also very shy, so only the most dedicated bird watchers would be lucky enough to spot it in the wild.
