Royalty Gets To Open Gifts Earlier Than Most

Unlike most, the royal family members open their Christmas gifts on December 24, at tea time, more specifically. This custom dates back to Victorian times, according to royal expert Robert Jobson. It’s also worth noting that the tradition is observed in Germany as well.

The queen’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren typically spend Christmas Eve finishing the decoration of the tree before getting to their presents.
