30 Secrets that the Royal Family didn’t want you to know

A ‘Live’ Alarm Clock Awakens The Queen Every Morning
As opposed to the crowing of a rooster, Queen Elizabeth wakes up every day to the sound of bagpipes. Whether she’s staying at Balmoral, Buckingham Palace, or Windsor Castle, The Piper of the Sovereign would play her 15 minutes of music from the wind instrument to start her day.
It was Her Majesty’s great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria who appointed the first piper in 1843. The man who currently holds the position is Pipe Major David Rodgers from the Irish Guards. He has held the position since 2013 and even serenaded Kate Middleton as a bride two years prior at her reception.
