

The Dancefloor Couldn’t Handle Them
Looking at Studio 54 from the outside on its 54th Street spot, it appears quite small but it’s actually big enough to accommodate 2,000 patrons. Its 85-foot-high ceilings also made it possible for flying dancers to soar above the dense crowd that regularly flocked there.
Not that that dancefloor was small. It measured 5,400 square feet. It’s just that these women had moves that the ground can’t handle and their captive audience thinks so too it seems. We imagine getting on and off that contraption is a workout on its own, though.
