Motorized rollers
Salesman Mike Dreschler fills up his motorized rollers at a Sunoco station in Hartford, Connecticut. Produced by the Motorized Roller Skate Company in 1956, these skates could be purchased for $250 and could reach almost 30 kilometers per hour. In addition to having a high cost, which in today’s money would be about 2,300 dollars, the rollers weighed around 8.5 kilograms. Perhaps these inconveniences were part of their failure to take off, as well as the lack of brakes.
