Sound seekers in the First World War

Called “sound seekers,” these devices were used during the First World War by soldiers to be able to identify by sound where enemy planes would come from. While it is unclear how specific these primitive devices were, they were used on both sides of the war, as radars only arrived for World War II, many years later. With the advancement of technology, today an airplane, or other type of vehicle, can be made visible thanks to radars, which since the decade of their creation until today, have made the necessary modifications to improve their precision.
