The Worst-Case Scenario
Suspecting the worst-case scenario, an investigation about the plane’s disappearance was immediately launched. Retracing the flight’s path, authorities determined that it might have crashed somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean. But while that was the most plausible explanation for the incident, it proved difficult to tell for sure.
Despite thoroughly searching the area where they believe Flight 914 crashed, authorities and rescue teams found no remnants of a destroyed aircraft at all. They didn’t even find any traces of the 61 people on board. No stray clothes or baggage ever washed up.
