Ever Wondered How Life Was Back in the Day? These Vintage Images Show How Drastically the World Has Changed

The Slender Man’s Coming

Anyone who has ever played the game “Slender Man” will probably imagine the tall, mysterious creature popping out soon in this image. However, this piece, called “The Stairs of Montmartre,” was shot by artist Jules Halasz, commonly known as Brassai, in 1936. The photographer captured this eerie yet breathtaking shot of the stairway at the Rue Foyatier.

Brassai had always been a fan of the Parisian streets as well as the nation’s nightlife, often walking around in the wee hours of the morning to capture beautiful images. His first book, “Paris de Nuit” (Paris by Night), was highly celebrated.
