Gemma Merna – Carmel McQueen, Hollyoaks
Soap operas aren’t just for older viewers, and the youth-oriented drama Hollyoaks is proof of that. Of course, its success is also thanks to the work of its former and current cast members like Gemma Merna, who played the resident bubbly blonde Carmel McQueen from 2006 to 2014.
Despite her award-winning stint on the Channel 4 program—she won a British Soap Award for it in 2007—Merna has shifted careers. She’s currently working in the world of fitness as a yoga teacher and trainer. She still has fond memories of her time as Carmel though saying she’s grateful to have been a part of Hollyoaks.
