Sean Wilson – Martin Platt, Coronation Street
While most actors try their best to get out of the TV series mold, Sean Wilson had been comfortable only appearing on small screens. Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, the Lancashire native only portrayed roles in shows, but he is most notable for playing Martin Platt, first introduced in 1985 as the worker at Jim’s Cafe.
The Corrie alum stayed with the show for 20 years and decided to leave after what he hinted was a difference in creative directions. Wilson briefly returned in 2018 despite saying in the past that he didn’t regret departing the cobbles. Nowadays, the 55-year-old is kept busy by his namesake cheese business.
