Hannah Murray gained fame as the wildling girl who managed to make a living on the other side of the Wall in Game Of Thrones. That this particular character managed to live all eight seasons out is a miracle in itself, especially since she moved with Sam Tarly, a self-confessed coward.
As Gilly, one thing Murray had to portray was the demeanor of a submissive girl who, having lived in the snow all her life, was a plain person by necessity. While she pulled it naturally, she also proved in real life that it doesn’t take much for her to glam herself up.
