A Photographer Stepped Into a Neglected Home to Show Us a Unique Piece of American History
Empty Since 1968
Marion Carll was a very influential woman, a community pillar, who worked for decades as a teacher in the local district. Her significance in the area was such that a local grammar school was named after her in 1957. Carll lived in the Marion Carll Farmhouse until the year of her death, in 1968.
Before she passed away, she decided to hand down the farmhouse to the Commack School Boards. Its purpose? To be used solely for educational reasons and not as a for-profit asset. Roughly 50 years after Carll’s death, Bryan Sansivero was given full access to the property.
