Out Of The Closet: Celebrities You May Or May Not Have Known Are Gay

Despite the changing landscape and perspective of the world, the LGBTQ community is still under extreme duress. Many public members of this community are still living in secret, afraid to come out in fear of a backlash at the hands of family and friends.

But trust celebrities to come in and save the day with their high profiles and willingness to share their orientation. That’s right, if you didn’t already know, there are tons of gay and bis*xual celebrities, and many of them have come out to make it easier for the regular person to do the same. From Don Lemon to Zachary Quinto, here are some inspirational gay celebrities.

George Takei & Brad Altman

George Takei is famous for playing the helmsman of the USS Enterprise, Hikaru Sulu, in the original Star Trek series. He is also famous for being an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQI community, having attended events and rallies since the ’70s.

Although his orientation had been an open secret for years, Takei officially came out in 2005. He also announced his relationship with long-time partner Brad Altman. Takei also recorded a mock public announcement in response to former NBA player Tim Hardaway, who proclaimed that he hated gay people. The announcement starts seriously but turns when Takei starts talking about how much gay people love sweaty basketball players.
