Youngster Art Collector Acquires Painting At Cheap Auction, Later Finds Out Its Real Worth

Unpacking Intriguing Facts

Now that David Weiss had a name, he started showing the real work of an appraiser. He started unpacking facts about Neuhuys, such as his birth and death year, the style of art he does, which elements are always present (such as the mother), and the vivid, almost moving background.

Weiss also managed to use the fact that it’s a watercolor painting by Albert Neuhuys to decipher the painting’s approximate age. Based on his deductions, he concluded that the painting’s creation happened in the last quarter of the 19th century. That makes it over 100 years old, adding even more value to it.
