Youngster Art Collector Acquires Painting At Cheap Auction, Later Finds Out Its Real Worth
Era Of Peaceful Painting

Albert Neuhuys, like many others, took inspiration from the people of Laren and their way of life and would often paint pictures of common family scenes where people are going about the duties of their daily lives. Neuhuys helped usher in the era of peaceful painting.
The painting Stephen Padlo brought to the Antiques Roadshow is a prime example of the kinds of works that made this school of artists famous: a mother and daughter’s portrait in a room with the mother doing a motherly duty and a child being a child.
