Youngster Art Collector Acquires Painting At Cheap Auction, Later Finds Out Its Real Worth

Art collectors often fork out small fortunes to satisfy their hobby’s enormous appetite. Sometimes, the prices of some art pieces can go into millions of dollars. But not everyone knows about the true value of a piece of art, and at times, something of extreme value comes on the market at a steal.

Take the story about this young antique-collecting boy who happened to stumble upon a painting he really likes. He paid $2 for it and decided to bring it along with him while on the US version of Antiques Roadshow. In the end, the boy discovered that it wasn’t just another junk auction item.

Not Your Average Guest…

In 2014, an extraordinary episode of Antiques Roadshow aired. A rare guest appeared and had an antique piece he held very dear. This was a guest who’s younger than the usual antique collector. In fact, he was just a boy.

However, this boy had a passion for antiques and had a piece of art that he had picked up at a bargain price. His youth and love of the craft had intrigued the show’s art expert David Weiss, who was eager to pick the boy’s brains and test his enthusiasm.
