You’ll Never Guess The Origin Of Some Of The Most Common Used Inventions

France – Pencil Sharpener

Probably the last time we used a pencil was in primary school. It makes one reminisce of fond memories of hanging out with friends at the teacher’s desk to sharpen the pencils. For years before the invention of a pencil sharpener, knives were prominent to taper the wooden writing instrument.

However, the latter was time-consuming; as the pencil became universal in everyday life, a more efficient method was required. Luckily, Parisian mathematician Bernard Lassimone was up for a challenge and, on October 20, 1828, patented his Taille Crayon or the pencil sharpener. And a new era began for devoted scribblers and artists everywhere!
