Wonders of the Modern World: Jaw-Dropping Infrastructures That Leave You in Awe
Contemporary Art Museum in Brazil
The Niterói Contemporary Art Museum, also known as the MAC, is a unique project in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Designed by renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, the museum is known for its futuristic appearance that resembles a flying saucer perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The building’s circular shape and vibrant red color are a striking contrast against the blue sea in the background.
Named after the neighborhood it resides, the museum required a tremendous amount of effort to complete, including one million tons of concrete and 300 laborers. It houses a collection of contemporary art by Brazilian and international artists and hosts various exhibitions and cultural events.
